FIELD: steel-smelting engineering to prepare metal component of shaft; breaking up lengthy rolling stock without keeping to precise dimensions. SUBSTANCE: stress concentrators are made simultaneously over entire length of section with increment preset by break-up value Lpr and deforming by bending is effected by passing lengthy section between non-drive rollers. Each separated part is loaded in the course of lengthy section displacement according to scheme of beam secured on one end placed on support, and breaking force is applied to point spaced Lpr distance from support. Thus, when each next section with cut goes onto supporting roller, it is loaded with bending moment affording metal destruction along section until part is separated. In breaking-up rail sections, cuts are made on side surface of foot and deformation is made while rail is moving in "stand on foot" position by bending in horizontal plane.
