PROTECTION- RELIEF APPARATUS FOR ROLLING STAND Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: rolling equipment , namely protection of rolling stands of rolling mills against overloads. SUBSTANCE: protection-relief apparatus of rolling stand with destructible member is mounted between screw-down device and chock of rolling roll. Said device includes punch, band and base defining working cavity filled with elastomer. Band is in the form of two ring halves whose one ends are mutually joined by shear pin and whose other ends are mutually connected by articulation-joint assembly. Rotation axis of said assembly is parallel with axis of screw-down device. Shear pin is mounted on ends of said ring halves in shearing sleeves. Rotation axis of shear pin is parallel with axis of screw-down device or normal relative to it. Apparatus is provided with motion limiter in the form of cylinder rigidly connected with punch and mounted along axis of said screw-down device. One of ring halves has in its lateral wall through threaded opening into which bolt is screwed on. When rolls are jammed penetration of elastomer through said opening at screwing off bolt allows to relieve stand and to draw rolls apart. EFFECT: simplified design, small size and enhanced maintenance condition of apparatus, lowered idle time periods at failures and labor consumption for repairing operations. 5 cl, 6 dwg
