SAFETY DEVICE FOR A ROLL MILL STAND Russian patent published in 1994 - IPC

FIELD: metallurgy, metal rolling. SUBSTANCE: safety device of a roll mill stand is installed between press aid and a chock of roll. The device has a punch and a body forming working cavity filled with elastomer. Openings are made in lateral walls of the body. The elastomer extrudes through these openings in case of operation the device. Opening profile being expanded from inner through outer surface of the lateral wall, as well as one with cylindrical portion adjacent to inner surface of lateral walls are provided. Inner surface of lateral walls is cylindrical. Openings are distributed evenly along surface periphery. Axes of openings are positioned in the plane being perpendicular to press aid axis. The distance between this axis and internal surface of the base is equal to opening radius located on the inner surface of body lateral walls. The device is provided for disposition of a destructible member in it, made in the form of a strip and placed between elastomer and lateral wall of the body.
