FIELD: mechanical engineering; mechanized application of intermediate layers onto low-carbon low-alloyed steel surfaces prior to application of corrosion-and wear-resistant coatings onto working surfaces of parts, for instance, rolls and plates of bridge supports. SUBSTANCE: sheathing of flux-cored electrode is made of low carbon tape. Powder charge contains the following components, mass %: chromium 13.5-16.0; graphite 0.05-0.09; zirconium dioxide 1.6-2.4; nickel 0.2-0.5; manganese 0.4-0.7; ferromolybdenum 0.3-0.7; ferrosilicon 0.3-0.7; sodium fluosilicate 0.5-0.9; ferrum 4.5-7.0; low carbon steel of sheathing - the rest. Flux-cored electrode fill factor is 24.5-26.5%. Flux-cored electrode has high operating characteristics, it prevents development of pores and cracks in welded-on metal at surfacing with preliminary heating to 200-240 C at high level of mechanical homogeneity of welded metal. EFFECT: improved quality of surfacing. 2 tbl
