FIELD: railway transport; auxiliary equipment providing retarding and stopping of rail vehicles. SUBSTANCE: device has brake blocks 1 installed higher than head of rails 2 in parallel with and with clearance relative to inner side of rails 2 of rail track, and spring-operated drive mechanism of brake blocks 1. Brake blocks 1 are freely and movable fitted in rectangular frame 3 and rest by their ends on slippers 4 of frame 3. Spring-operated drive mechanism is made in form of rods 5 connecting brake blocks 1 on which compression spring 7 are installed between distance bushings 6. Plates 8 limit upwards travel of brake blocks 1. Plates 8 are secured on frame 3. The latter is arranged between rails 2. Frame 3 and slippers 4 are secured by bolts 10 to metal linings 11 fixed on rails 2 by rail fastenings 12. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of operation. 2 cl, 4 dwg
