APPARATUS FOR EXCISING SMALL CAVITY IN JAW BONE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: stomatology. SUBSTANCE: proposed apparatus comprises base carrying assembly for fastening patient's head, jig 1, frame 2 with clamps, and assembly for longitudinal movement of cutting instrument 9. Said instrument moving assembly in made in form of lever 27 provided with stop member, articulately attached to base and including device for orienting cutting instrument 9. Said instrument orienting device has stationary support and is operatively coupled with gear wheel 23 provided with internal splines, gear wheel 23 being actuated by drive. Said instrument moving assembly further comprises middle rod 10 having first portion of barrel-shaped cross-section, and radially curved second portion provided with side grooves adapted to receive side ribs formed on cutting instrument 9. Latter is provided with side pins 11 and is arranged on second portion so as to be able to perform longitudinal radial movement to enable its side pins 11 to cooperate with ports formed in splined sleeve 20. Sleeve 20 is arranged on first portion for reciprocating movement and for movable spline-assisted cooperation with gear wheel 23. Lever 27 with its stop member is operatively coupled with sleeve 20, while middle rod 10 is rotatably associated with auxiliary pin projecting from cantilever 12 formed on stationary support. Cutting instrument 9 is formed with working teeth 8 made in form of sharp blades disposed in mutually perpendicular planes extending from same common starting point "A". First 21 of said blades is inclined in direction of rotation of cutting instrument and is oriented across longitudinal axis of base. As result, it is possible to cut out semi-barrel-shaped recess in cavities of jaw bones. EFFECT: apparatus offers possibility to rapidly and painlessly form cavities in jaw bones. 20 dwg
