FIELD: radiochemistry. SUBSTANCE: method involves thermal pre-treatment of target material (AIN) with oxygen current at 800-850 C for 5-30 h to remove carbon-12 admixtures from it, irradiation of aluminium nitride with neutron flux, and finally, annealing of irradiated material in oxygen environment at 920-1180 C for 1-5 h to extract carbon-14 radioactive nuclide from it. EFFECT: reduced thermal treatment time for irradiated aluminium nitride; increased specific radioactivity of final product. 2 tbl
