FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: method involves reactor neutron exposure of a matrix of tungsten oxide, heat treatment of said matrix in a medium of oxygen until turning to gas phase and condensation of the desired isotope, which is then extracted by a reagent. The tungsten oxide matrix is in form of a hollow cylinder whose wall thickness is not more than 3 mm. The apparatus has a container in form of two coaxial cylinders between the walls of which there is a cavity for placing the exposed tungsten oxide, which is closed on one side, and a sublimation apparatus, having a condenser and a heated part with a pipe for feeding oxygen, over which diaphragm is placed. In the top part of the coaxial cylinders there is a through-pipe for passage of the exposure medium.

EFFECT: increase in specific activity of the parent tungsten-188 isotope, specific activity of rhenium-188 daughter isotope by increasing its chemical output and quantitative deposition on a limited surface.
