FIELD: mechanical engineering; metal working; plastic deformation of surfaces to increase strength of article. SUBSTANCE: surface is subjected to plastic deformation for forming macrobosses. Macrobosses are formed as combination of discrete non-intersecting traces left by machining tool. Traces are made round or elliptical and are arranged close to each other with trace depth-to-wall thickness ratio within 0.005 - 0.1 and ratio of pattern depth to corrected radius of curvature equal to 0.35 - 0.4.
