FIELD: nuclear engineering. SUBSTANCE: sorbing compound for water decontamination in cooling ponds for fuel assemblies, tanks, and containers of refueling machines is composed of mixture of ion-exchange fibrous krepan polyampholytes, kopan, and carbon fiber. Krepan radiation modified to integral dose of 0.4-1.5 mg R is used in compound. Busoffit and/or actilene is used as carbon fiber. Mass proportion of kopn:krepan:busoffit and/or actilene is (8-6): (2-1):(2-1). Water is decontaminated by means of sorbing compound under steady state conditions with compound held in cooling pond for 2 to 6 months.
