FIELD: recovery of nuclear power plant radioactive wastes deposited, for example, in cooling ponds. SUBSTANCE: process includes mixing of suspended radioactive solids and powdered granular metallurgical slag in proportion of 3.2-4.5 mass parts of slag per 1 mass part of suspended solid phase. Mixture is allowed to settle down, clay powder in the amount of 0.8-1.5 mass parts per 1 mass part of suspended solid phase and sodium alkali in the amount of 0.032-0.045 mass parts per 1 mass part of suspended solid phase are added to sediment. Mixture obtained is stirred and solidified for 28 days. EFFECT: improved strength of solid block, reduced leaching of radionuclides out of solid block, reduced slag consumption for producing solid product, and four-five times reduced volume of solid product to be disposed. 1 tbl
