FIELD: production of articles of applied arts from wood. SUBSTANCE: method involves deep carving of conventionalized contour of bird's body with head and tail from wooden bar formed as fragment of tree trunk with visible structure of annulus; carving grooves on portion of article surface; finishing article's surface and applying layer of transparent lacquer; orienting article body in wooden bar so that vertical plane of symmetry of article extends through axis of core of tree trunk fragment; orienting surfaces of wings, tail and crest parts of article close to conical or cylindrical surfaces relative to cylindrical surfaces of annulus layers of tree trunk fragment so that angle between their respective generatrices ranges from 10 to 80 deg; rounding strips of surfaces between grooves on wings, tail and crest and orienting them at an angle of 10-90 deg relative to lines of annulus layers (of section) on respective surfaces of wings, tail and crest of bird-shaped article.
