FIELD: refractory materials. SUBSTANCE: magnesium melt is bubbled through with nitrogen to the depth from 1/3 to 2/3 melt height. simultaneously titanium tetrachloride is fed. Nitrogen pressure is 0.1-0.2 atm, temperature 800-900 C. Reduction products are allowed to stand, cooled, and vacuum separated when gradually raising temperature to 960-980 C. EFFECT: increased homogeneity of titanium nitride obtained. 1 tbl
