FIELD: chemical industry, more particularly preparation of photoconducting materials, films having superconductivity magnetic discs with superhigh density of information. SUBSTANCE: reactor is charged with metallic magnesium and heated to 800-1000 C, and CCl4 is fed at CCl4:Mg ratio of (3.1-3.2): 1. Process is carried out in atmosphere of He. On complexion of reaction, reactor is filled with argon and cooled. Reaction products are separated by extraction in toluene. Process is carried out in conventional reactor using cheap stock. Yield of fullerenes is 35 wt %. EFFECT: improved working conditions and better safety measures due to elimination of dangerously explosive gases. 1 ex, 1 tbl
