FIELD: chemical technology, adsorbents. SUBSTANCE: method involves preparing the suspension based on synthetic thermoreactive resin containing 16-26 wt. -% graphite, amorphous carbon or their mixture at particle size ≅ 150 mcm. Suspension is applied on backing made of polyurethane foam and subjected for thermic treatment in methane atmosphere. Heating from 100 to 600 C is carried out at the rate 70-90 C/h and that from 600 to 1000 C at the rate 300 C/h, not less. Then isothermic exposition at 1000 C is carried out for 5-50 h. Highly porous cellular carbon material is obtained. Properties: porosity is 82.5-92%, strength is 0.181-0.396 g/cm3. The end product is used as filtering members, adsorbents and catalyst carriers.
