FIELD: agriculture, in particular, production of substrate blocks from loose, for instance, sphagnous material. SUBSTANCE: method involves feeding loose material through pipeline and performing vacuum deposition in suction chamber till loose material is compacted. Suction chamber is continued by block forming netted chamber having pipe with perforated wall making net. This chamber has cylindrical housing composed of two detachable parts. Cylindrical part is mounted for axial continuous reciprocation so that compacted material is discharged in the form of continuous mass. Air-impermeable paper material is introduced into pipeline together with loose material. Mass of compacted material is wrapped with paper material, discharged from pipeline and cut into separate blocks. EFFECT: increased efficiency, simplified method and improved quality of substrate blocks. 9 cl, 4 dwg
