FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy. SUBSTANCE: electrolyzer designed to produce magnesium from melt chlorides consists of casing, lining, two working compartments, and demountable cell. Working compartment incorporates cathodes inserted through longitudinal wall and, installed in bottom, graphitized anodes with cast-iron contact heads. Between lower face of contact heads and casing, cast-iron slab with interconnecting internal cavities is placed. The latter are made of metal plates and connected to heat carrier-supply pump and heat carrier collector. According to invention, the slab may be disposed under casing or between bottom and casing, and may also be dismountable. The cavities may be made of steel pipe and the slab, in turn, of steel-pipe cavities filled by ceramic slurry. EFFECT: improved design. 7 cl, 3 dwg
