FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed bottom-anode electrolytic furnace comprises lined jacket divided by walls with circulation openings into built-up cell and working chambers to house anodes and cathodes. Furnace hearth lining is made on two levels. Note here that hearth level in said built-up cells, across its cross section, is lower than that in working chambers by 0.1-0.6 of the distance between lower faces of cathodes and hearth in working chamber.
EFFECT: higher yield of magnesium.
