METHOD OF INSTALLATION OF METAL CYLINDRICAL STORAGE TANK Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: methods of installation of vertical metal tanks, mainly, for storage of oil and oil products. SUBSTANCE: method includes installation of bottom installation of rolled and sheet rings of tank wall, mounting of roof. In so doing, rolled and sheet rings of tank wall are installed with deviation of plane of ends of rolled ring from plane of adjacent end of sheet ring not exceeding 0.02% of height of sheet ring, provided the height of sheet rings of wall does not exceed one half of height of storage tank. Joining of rolled ring with sheet ring is accomplished with warping of not above 10% or not above 2 mm. Rings are installed as follows. Ring of tank wall installed on bottom is lifted to height of 1.5-3.0 m with subsequent welding of underlying ring to it. Sheet rings of tank wall are assembled of separate sheets whose thickness is, at least, 18 mm. Sheet ring is welded with rolled ring with edge preparation of overlying ring.
