FIELD: production of para-hydrogen by low temperature conversion of ortho-hydrogen. SUBSTANCE: hydrogen comprising ortho-hydrogen is contacted with molded catalyst, the process is carried out at cryogenic conditions at volume rate 4-4.5 1·104h-1. Said catalyst is promoted with hydrated oxides having common formula FeMe(OH)3 or FeMe(OOH) where Me is molybdenum, tungsten, chromium, vanadium, and cobalt within definite concentrations. Catalyst is prepared by adding equinormal aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide into 2-6 N solution of ferrum (III) chloride, the process is carried out at 288-303 K. Then thus prepared sol of ferrum (III) oxide is mixed with slime of anode dissolution of steel at their ratio 1:(0.5-1) as calculated for ferrum. Thus obtained precipitate is formed, washed against sodium and chlorine ions, decanted, formed and activation. Said activation takes place at hydrogen flow at 373-423 K. EFFECT: improved output of reaction capacity unit, improved activity and strength of catalyst, decreased duration of forming of precipitate of catalyst. 4 cl, 1 tbl
