FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: polymeric organometal compound of tantalum and/or niobium is subjected to physical and chemical treatment with concentrated hydrogen peroxide and concentrated sulfuric acid under normal conditions. The resulting solution is diluted with distilled water and heated till suspension of tantalum and/or niobium hydroxide is formed. The suspension is condensed, filtered off, mixed with concentrated sulfuric acid and evaporated to remove sulfur anhydride vapors. Residue is leached with hot distilled water and calcined. EFFECT: more efficient preparation method. 1 dwg
