FIELD: methods of production of tantalum and niobium from their chemical compounds. SUBSTANCE: method includes reduction of chemical compounds by alkali metal, and subsequent leaching of residue of alkali metal from powders of tantalum and niobium obtained in elementary state. Subjected to reduction are polymer metalloorganic compounds of tantalum and niobium in autoclave, in liquid medium consisting of melt of metalloorganic compounds and alkali metal at temperature not below the temperature of decomposition of polymer compounds into separate monomers with subsequent cooling of obtained products down to room temperature, release from autoclave of excessive pressure of gaseous substances and leaching at normal conditions of metalloorganic compound of alkali metal with solution of hydrogen peroxide from powders of tantalum and niobium produced in elementary state.
