METHOD FOR MAKING PROXIMATE QUICK PROGNOSIS AS TO EXPECTED OUTCOME IN CASES OF THERMALLY INJURED SKIN INTEGUMENTS UNDER EXPERIMENTAL CONDITIONS Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

Abstract RU 2092905 C1

FIELD: medicine; experimental surgery; traumatology; experimental pharmacology; general surgery; legal medicine; pathological anatomy. SUBSTANCE: intracutaneous pressure value is measured at plurality of symmetrically located points on intact (i.e. thermally unaffected) skin areas and identical measurements are effected at equal number of points located in various areas of affected skin. By end of first 24 h after formation of burn ratio is determined of tissue (intracutaneous) pressure in burn-affered skin areas to tissue pressure in intact skin. If ratio value ranges from 1.1 to 1.2 prognosis is issued about expected normalization of morphofunctional condition of skin by 7th day since beginning of burn disease, and changes in skin are considered to be light degree of thermal affection. If ratio value is above 1.2, prognosis is issued about absence of normalization in condition of skin integuments and their injury is evaluated as medium and heavy degree of thermal affection. EFFECT: higher accuracy of examination; greater authenticity of examination result; reduced volume of subsequent diagnostic and medical operations; savings in terms of labour and time.
