FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: electrodes are applied to patient's body, and low- and high-frequency probing currents are passed through them. Body impedances are measured at the above-indicated frequencies, and volumes of liquid sectors of organism are determined by impedance values obtained. Novelty consists in that electrodes are connected in pairs and applied to skin of upper and lower extremities of patient. First impedance is measured when probing current at frequency of 20-40 kHz is passed through patient's body. Second impedance is measured when probing current of 400-800 kHz is passed through body. First impedance is used for determination of extracellular liquid volume, and volume of intracellular liquid is determined by means of second impedance. Volume of total liquid in organism is found as sum of both volumes. EFFECT: true and accurate determination of volume of liquid sectors. 5 tbl, 2 dwg
