FIELD: mechanical engineering. SUBSTANCE: this is intended for polishing flat surfaces of articles by petal-shape polishing wheel. According to method, rotating petal-type polishing wheel and article being treated are moved relative to each other. Petals of polishing wheel are deformed before treating zone by means of lubricating-cooling technological facility rigidly connected with article and located at common level with surface being treated. Lubricating-cooling facility is subjected to ultrasonic oscillations in direction parallel to relative displacement of petal-shape polishing wheel and article. At this, aforesaid article and wheel are imparted with additional relative displacement in same direction. Petal when colliding with facility is deformed uniformly in width, and its working surface is coated with layer of lubricating-cooling agent with high degree of uniformity ensured due to effect of oscillations.
