FIELD: mechanical engineering; polishing of flat surfaces by lobed wheels. SUBSTANCE: polishing is carried out by lobed wheel with rigidly secured lubricating-and-cooling arrangement. Workpiece is heated to temperature exceeding melting point of material in lubricating-and-cooling arrangement. When material comes in contact with workpiece, it melts, thus providing favorable conditions of contact of wheel lobes with workpiece and their deformation through layer of lubricating-and-cooling material. EFFECT: improved quality of machined flat surface of workpieces. 1 tbl, 1 dwg
