FIELD: gas purification. SUBSTANCE: invention is designed to chemically condition smoke fumes prior to be directed into electrofilters for removing ashes and dust. Conditioning constitutes catalytic oxidation of sulfur dioxide contained in smoke fumes into sulfur trioxide using catalyst based on activated carbon containing at least 0.75% alkali elements and having average pore size 100-300 . Process is conducted at 120-180 C, whereas catalyst is placed directly in main stream of smoke fumes. EFFECT: increased purification degree. 4 cl
