FIELD: examination and analysis of materials. SUBSTANCE: method consists of the following operations. Specimen is placed in corrosive medium, and corrosion potential is measured. Content of depolarizer in medium is changed, constant potential equal to corrosion potential is applied to specimen. Specimen is kept at this potential till steady-state value of current is obtained. Then this current value is determined. It indicates corrosion. Specimen is kept at corrosion potential, and content of depolarizer is changed simultaneously. Depolarizer content is changed partially by the required value towards decreasing or increasing. EFFECT: improved test results.
