FIELD: heat exchange systems.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of corrosion process research and can be used to determine the corrosion rate of steel and the corrosive activity of glycols in heat exchange equipment. A method for determining the corrosive activity of glycols in heat exchange equipment includes interaction in the reaction tank of glycol and a working electrode made of heat exchange equipment grade steel, while the cell additionally contains an auxiliary graphite electrode and a reference electrode, a voltmeter is connected to the reference electrode and the working electrode, auxiliary graphite and working electrodes are connected via an ammeter to a DC source with the possibility of adjusting the output current and changing the polarity of electrical terminals, the anode and cathode polarization of the working electrode is sequentially performed with a discrete increase in the output current of the DC source, current-voltage diagrams of cathode and anode polarization are constructed using the potentiostatic method, the angle between the diagrams of anode and cathode polarization is determined by the corrosion activity of glycol.
EFFECT: reduction in the complexity and duration of determining the corrosion activity of glycol media, as well as an increase in its reliability.
