FIELD: examination and analysis of materials. SUBSTANCE: prior to applying the indication coating, surface of part under test is moistened with indication gas solvent. Then surface of part is allowed to dry till wet spots disappear. This done, part under test is kept in indication gas atmosphere under preset pressure. To reveal through defects on part surface under test, indication gas solvent is applied to opposite surface of part, and indication coating is superposed on surface being tested. In order to detect surface defects, indication gas solvent is applied to surface under test, and indication coating is also superposed on surface being tested. EFFECT: improved test results. 2 cl
