The precipitated trisubstituted ammonium salt of glycyrrhizic acid is reduced to monosubstituted salt by addition of acetic acid followed by separation of ready product. The use of an aqueous-butanol mixture as an organic solvent ensures to exclude the use of acetone and ethanol for the end product purification. The end product is used in veterinary science mainly.
