UNITARY SMALL CALIBER CARTRIDGE Russian patent published in 1997 - IPC

FIELD: ammunition, small caliber cartridges of unitary loading with armour-piercing projectile and built-up combined propelling charge. SUBSTANCE: armour-piercing subcaliber projectile having heavy-alloy core is mounted in case via tray. Case includes percussion cap, igniting tube and combined propelling charge presenting mixture of pyroxylin phlegmatized powders, grained and spherical, in which volume plates of high-calorie combustible - aluminium in the amount of 2.0-8.0% of mass of charge are evenly distributed. Plates have side equal to 0.4-0.7 length of powder grain of large fraction and thickness corresponding to condition 2h=2l₁, where h is thickness of aluminium plate; 2l₁ is thickness of burning grained powder.
