UNITARY SMALL-CALIBER CARTRIDGE Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: defense industry; production of unitary small-caliber cartridges.

SUBSTANCE: the invention is dealt with ammunition, in particular with production of unitary small-caliber cartridges of unitary loading for automatic cannons using sub-caliber armor-piercing shells, the massive core of which is mounted in the separated pan. The cartridge contains armor-piercing sub-caliber shell with a heavy-alloy core having a conical head with two ring-type grooves - localizers, in which a ballistic cap is rolled up, and the core butt has the trapezoidal ledges matching a diametrical groove in the bottom part of the separated aluminum pan with a gas-dynamic hole and a driving belt, fixed in the sleeve including a bulk combined propellant charge and an ignition cap with a fire-passing stepwise tube. At that the core is built inside the plastic sector body, that has the dead longitudinal grooves and is supplied with the centering metal bush with cross connections of loosened cross-section, which internal cross-section is congruent to an adjoining conical head part of the core. The new thing is, that longitudinal grooves of the plastic body are oriented coaxially to the cross connection strips of the metal centering bush under which there are the through figured windows; in the gas-dynamic hole of the pan a branch-pipe is fixed; the depth of the ring type grooves of localizers makes 0.15-0.20 of the core diameter. At that an altitude of trapezoidal ledges on its butt is equal to 3-5 mm. The invention ensures an increase of the functional reliability of the cartridge and the main parameters of the shell in armor piercing by a heavy-alloyed core receiving a large drop energy.
