FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy; method of preparation of raw materials for production of magnesium. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes carnallite melting stage at partial dehydration and opposite delivery of hydrogen chloride obtained through burning chlorine in natural gas, melt chlorination stage which is effected by chlorine fed in opposite flow through melt, settling and drain of melt. Chlorine, natural gas and compressed air are mixed preliminarily at volumetric ratio of 3:1:1 and gas mixture thus obtained is fed to melting stage and to chlorination stage at rate of no less than 20 m/s and pressure ranging from 0.3 to 0.4 atm. Melt is continuously fed from melting stage under layer of melt at chlorination stage at simultaneous treatment of melt with chlorine and hydrogen chloride obtained through burning the mixture. Device used for realization of this method includes lined reservoir divided into melting chamber, chlorination chamber and settling chamber by means of partitions provided with overflow ports; melting chamber is provided with mixture burning unit for obtaining hydrogen chloride found in tuyere of melting chamber; chlorination chamber is provided with tuyeres for delivery of chlorine to settling chamber; besides that, device is provided with mixer for mixing the gas mixture made in form of pipe whose one end is mounted in tuyere; tuyere used for burning the mixture is made in form of funnel widening towards chambers. Partition between melting chamber and chlorination chamber is provided with vertical Z-shaped passage over entire height. EFFECT: increased productivity. 7 cl, 3 dwg
