FIELD: building materials production. SUBSTANCE: mixture for production of ceramic articles comprises, mas. %: uncrushed quartz sand having size modulus 1.1-2.5, 70-85; crushed quartz sand having specific surface 3000-6000 cm2/g, 10-29; liquid glass (as calculated for dry material), 1-5. Pigment may be added into mixture, its quantity is 0.1-2 %. Mixture is prepared by mixing uncrushed sand with crushed sand till homogeneous mixture is produced. Then thus obtained homogeneous mixture is mixed with liquid glass. The process is followed by compressing of half-finished article, drying and roasting. Article is cooled to 75-80 C, cooling rate is 0.5-2.0 C/min. EFFECT: improved quality, improved efficiency. 5 cl, 2 tbl
