FIELD: biotechnology, microbiological industry. SUBSTANCE: new strain, Pseudomonas species VKPM B-4787. Bacterial cells obtained after culturing the strain on medium containing L-proline as a single source of carbon and nitrogen oxidize specifically L-proline but do not oxidize practically other amino acids and certain abundant sugars. The proposed strain was obtained as a result of selection of bacterium colonies isolated from soil and culturing on media containing 0.05-0.45% L-proline. Strain Pseudomonas species can be used for quantitative determination of L-proline in different media in microbiological industry, clinical and laboratory investigations.
