FIELD: microbiology, biotechnology. SUBSTANCE: invention proposes a new strain Escherichia coli VKPM B-7270 as a producer of L-histidine. Strain is obtained by selection of new mutation in gene hisG of histidine operon and the following insertion of extraoperon mutations in it that enhance the expression of histidine operon. The indicated strain is resistant to sulfaguanidine, D,L-1,2,4-triazole-3-alanine and streptomycin and ensures to obtain L-histidine at yield 16-17 g/l. Conversion degree of glucose to histidine is 24-26%. EFFECT: new strain indicated above, increased yield of L-histidine. 1 tbl, 1 ex
