FIELD: nuclear reactors. SUBSTANCE: reactor has emergency core-cooling system incorporating water tank with working medium, devices for building up gage pressure in water tank, and piping providing communication between tank and reactor. Under normal conditions, pressure equal to atmospheric value is maintained within water tank. In case of emergency situation dictating reactor shutdown or cooling, gage pressure is built up in water tank to displace working medium to reactor by generating gas or other means.
