FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: first of all gear ratio of brake rigging and gear ratio of parking brake worm drive are chosen and then sum of actual pressures of brake shoes onto railway car wheels is calculated, then obtained result is checked for complying with required pressure for holding the car by brakes on track slope. If parameters of parking brake withstand such checking, gear ratios of brake rigging and worm gear drives are considered correct and rigging and drive are assembled into common parking brake mechanism which is installed on railway car.
