FIELD: railway transport; hand parking brake checking facilities. SUBSTANCE: in proposed method brake cylinder is chosen and freight car brake rigging gear ratio is determined, then sum of actual pressure forces of brake shoes on freight car wheels under action of parking is found and actual coefficient of friction of brake shoe against freight car wheel is determined. Then slope is determined on which freight car must be held by parking brake, expressed in $$$, and then parking brake is checked for holding freight car on slope equal to 30 $$$. If this condition is satisfied, parking brake is installed on freight car. EFFECT: provision of effective checking of brake freight car parking brake, increased braking efficiency. 5 cl, 1 dwg
