FIELD: medicine. SUBSTANCE: method involves carrying out ultrasonic evaluation of form and size of the eyeball. Length of anteroposterior axis and horizontal diameter of the eyeball are determined. Form coefficient is calculated from formula FC=APA/HD, where FC is the form coefficient, APA is the anteroposterior axis, HD is the horizontal diameter. Eyeball shape being oblate ellipsoid, when FC is less than 1.0, myopia is diagnosed as permanent one. Eyeball shape being sphere, when FC = 1.0, myopia is diagnosed as slowly progressive one. FC is greater than 1.0, myopia is diagnosed as rapidly progressive one. EFFECT: enhanced accuracy of diagnosis.
