FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: tetrahydroimidazo-[1,4]-benzodiazepines of the general formula (I) given in description and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts or stereoisomers where R¹ - C_1-6-alkyl or radical -Alk- where R⁷-R⁹- means independently hydrogen or C_1-4-alkyl; R² - hydrogen or C_1-6-alkyl; R³ - hydrogen or C_1-6-alkyl; R⁴-R⁵- - hydrogen or halogen; R⁶ - C_1-6-alkyl; X - OH or -SH. Antiviral composition has a compound (I) as an active component at amount 1-1000 mg. Intermediate compounds (II) and (III) given in description where R²-R⁶, X have values as indicated above; R^1H - hydrogen or values as for R¹ used for synthesis of compounds (I). Method of synthesis of compounds (I) involves interaction of compound of the general formula (III) with reagent L-C-(=X¹)-L (IV) where X¹ - O or S in inert solvent.
