FIELD: primary treatment of bast cultures, mainly, flax; may be used in production of long bast fibers. SUBSTANCE: scutching is carried out in succession for three operations - initial one-sided scutching, two-sided scutching, and again, one-sided scutching. The device has paired drums with rotary drive and conveyor. In this case, one of two drums in each scutching section is installed for motion along axis and subsequent locking. In zones of one-sided contact of drums with material, guide deflectors are radially installed relative to drums, and located in a spaced relation to drums with the space reducing in direction of working.
