FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: engine has one or several pairs of cylinders interconnected through passageways. The first of a cylinder pair is a cylinder for low compression, is connected with a source of fuel-air mixture, and provided with a gate for control of mixture feed when the engine operates under a partial load. The second cylinder is for high compression, has no compression chamber, is connected with the passageway for fresh air supply, and is provided with a throttle gate for control of air feed when the engine operates under a partial load. This gate is connected with the first gate. The connecting rod of the cylinder is mounted on the crank to so that its piston moves with a 22-27° delay from the piston of the first cylinder so that when its piston is in the top dead center the highly compressed air is fully displaced into the combustion chamber of the first cylinder thus providing afterburning the fuel charge. The throttle gate of the fuel mixture supply and throttle gate of the fresh air passageway are interconnected. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 2 cl, 2 dwg
