FIELD: engine engineering. SUBSTANCE: internal combustion engine has at least two cylinders which operate in four strokes and one expanding cylinder of greater diameter interposed between them in one plane. The end cylinders are provided with nozzles for injecting water. Fire sides of all three working chambers are covered with fire resistance heat insulating material. The cooling system of the engine is made up as straight flow pipe line in which fluid flows from low temperature parts to high temperature parts. At the beginning of the pipe line is a make-up pump which feds specially prepared water from a tank under a pressure as high as 15 atm to the cooling passageways of the engine. At the end of the pipe line is an injecting pump for supplying overheated water to the cylinders at the end of the compression stroke. The outer side in the zone of the working chambers and water injection is covered with a heat insulating material. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency. 2 cl, 1 dwg
