FIELD: petrochemical industry; metallurgy; aluminium works for cleaning waste gases of 3,4-benzpyrene. SUBSTANCE: benzpyrene afterburning unit includes ultra-violet radiation source at light power density of 0.01-0.2 W/sq. cm located in section of gas duct and provided with set of ultraviolet lamps fitted at distance of from 0.1 to 0.5 diameter of gas duct from its wall and secured to struts connected to gas duct flange. Each ultra-violet lamp is connected with voltage source by means of wires running inside struts via start-control device. Inner surface of gas duct is provided with reflector mounted symmetrically relative to ultra-violet radiation source. Ultra-violet lamps are secured to struts by means of cone device provided with protective baffle plate on frontal side relative to gas flow when after-burner is located along flow and/or board when after-burner is located across flow; gas duct is provided with sampler at after-burner outlet. EFFECT: reduction of concentration of benzpyrene by more than 20 times; enhanced efficiency of decontamination of benzpyrene contained in gas flows; simplification of construction and ease of maintenance. 2 cl, 2 dwg
