FIELD: metallurgy, casting and extrusion of metals. SUBSTANCE: process of continuous casting and extrusion of metals includes continuous casting of metal or alloy through mould with periodic movement of cast billet by specified step and fed of part of it into open container of press, closing of container, pressing-out and extrusion. Salient feature of process lies in giving cross-section of cast billet of nonequiaxial form, for instance, oval with plane parallel bases. In container of press billet is positioned with long axis perpendicular to plane of joint of container. Giving cross-section of billet of nonequiaxial form is realized by casting of billet through mould having hole of nonequiaxial form, for instance, oval with plane-parallel bases or by casting of billet round in cross-section with subsequent upsetting of it over diameter. Upsetting over diameter is carried out if liquid phase is present inside ingot. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and productivity of process. 5 cl, 10 dwg
