FIELD: railway transport; equipment of shunting stations. SUBSTANCE: car accelerator has pneumatic cylinder 3 rigidly secured by its housing on sliding supports 2 of guide beams 1, rod of cylinder being rigidly connected with guide beam. Head 4 for engagement with car is secured on housing of power cylinder. Rodless space of cylinder 3 communicates with two unions provided with cocks, and rod space, with one union. Plugs of cocks of rodless space are rigidly connected with levers hinge-coupled with plate for engagement with car. When wheelset rolls onto the plate, levers turn cocks and air gears into rodless space moving housing with head for accelerating the car. When plate and levers come out of engagement with car, plate and levers are returned into initial position communicating rodless space with atmosphere which provides return of cylinder in initial position.
