FIELD: railway transport. SUBSTANCE: free end of retarder guide beam 1 is installed below track rail, being slide fitted in stoop cheek 7 in which screw lift 8 is arranged. Screw lift 8 is coupled with foundation of base 9 through worm reduction gear 10 and electric drive 11. Hydropneumatic cylinder 3 is filled to piston portion of its space with gas, and after piston, with liquid for between sealing in gland of rear bottom. Head 4 of cylinder 3 serves simultaneously as flange and bracket on end of which axle with roller is taper mounted. To increase strength of retarders installed on each track rail their guide beams 1 are rigidly interconnected by jumpers. To provide synchronous operation of retarder cylinders 3, they are connected by pipeline for balancing gas pressure in cylinders, and union is installed on one of cylinders for filling the cylinders with gas and checking gas pressure in cylinders and union for charging liquid into cylinder space (not shown in drawing given in description of invention). To provide free movement of roller of head 4 of cylinder 3 at braking and its return in operating position, head of rail inside track is cut off on length of working stroke and is reinforced at opposite side (not shown in drawing given in description of invention). Electric limit switches are installed in corresponding places on base 9 of screw lift 8 to provide remote and automatic control of retarder.
