FIELD: mechanical engineering, internal combustion engines. SUBSTANCE: silencer has hollow housing 1 with side and end face walls 2 an 4 respectively. Inlet branch pipe 3 and outlet branch pipe 5 are placed coaxial in end face wall 4. The inner space of the housing is divided by partitions to form inlet chamber 6, outlet chamber 5 and intermediate vortex chambers. One of the partitions (9) is located across the housing and has holes 10 with pipes 11 secured in cantilever with their free ends facing outlet branch pipe 5. Intermediate vortex chambers 7 are disposed in parallel with each other along the periphery of inlet chamber 6 and are coaxial in relation to pipes 11. Besides, the silencer is provided with deflector 14 and additional pipes 13. The deflector is installed in the center of chamber 6 with its cover facing branch pipe 3. Branch pipes 13 are secured in holes 12 available in end face wall 2 of the housing. Pipes 13 are coaxial with chambers 7 and their free ends terminate inside pipes 11. Design of the walls of chamber 7 allows them to be made up from alternately disposed wide and narrow plates 17 to form stepped surface and to be coated with catalyst layer.
